Krishibid group marks 25 years with silver jubilee celebration
Krishibid Group celebrated its 25th anniversary today, marking its silver jubilee. Established in 2001, the group said it has grown over the past 25 years into one of the country's leading industrial conglomerates, with a strong presence in agriculture and diversified sectors.
The day-long celebration was held at the Krishibid Group Auditorium. The programme was presided over by Freedom Fighter Kbd Md Tariq Hassan, chairman of Krishibid Group. Dr Ali Afzal, managing director and one of the group's founding entrepreneurs, attended as the chief guest.
Also present were Kbd Md Alamgir, deputy managing director; Colonel Meher Mohabbat Hossain (retd), director (HR and administration); and managing directors, chief executive officers, officials and employees of the group's subsidiaries.
In his address, Dr Afzal said the group's journey began 25 years ago with an investment of Tk30,000 in a small poultry farm, and has since grown into an industrial group valued at nearly Tk10,000 crore.
He said the group initially began with five agriculturists, and now has more than 6,500 agriculturists and agricultural scientists associated with it, including former secretaries, agricultural experts, extension specialists, university professors and professionals from diverse fields.
Dr Afzal said the group has been working for Bangladesh's socio-economic development and claimed it was the first in the country to adopt a long-term strategic plan extending to 2100.
He added, "By then, we may no longer be here—that is certain. However, with the vision we hold and the plans we have adopted, Krishibid Group, insha'Allah, will grow into the country's largest institution, with a valuation of Tk500,000 crore."
He also said the group would continue to contribute to national development by supporting agricultural and food security, creating employment and nurturing entrepreneurs.
Following the discussion session, the silver jubilee was celebrated with a ceremonial cake-cutting.
