BRAC Bank holds sme credit risk workshop for Dhaka small credit team
BRAC Bank has organised a day-long workshop for its Dhaka-based small credit team on SME credit risk, titled "Challenges and Best Practice Alignment in Small Business Loan Processing".
A total of 52 SME risk managers and credit managers from Dhaka Regions 1, 2, and 3 took part in the workshop at the bank's head office in Dhaka.
The workshop included sessions on challenges faced by SME businesses, portfolio quality, loan assessment, and policy and process review. BRAC Bank's trainers also responded to participants' questions and provided guidance on best practices.
The bank stated that a skilled workforce is essential for sound SME loan management, adding that it runs regular training programmes to strengthen employee capacity while maintaining governance standards. It also noted that field-level experiences shared by participating managers were incorporated during the sessions.
Ahmed Rashid Joy, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer of BRAC Bank, said, "Continuous capability development of our SME risk managers is central to maintaining the strength and integrity of our portfolio. With SME non-performing loans below 3%—among the lowest in the industry—our disciplined, risk-based underwriting remains the foundation of our success. These specialised training programmes will further enhance our risk assessment standards and reinforce our ability to support SME growth responsibly and sustainably."
