National University pays tribute to language martyrs at central shaheed minar
To mark Language Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day, Professor Dr A S M Amanullah, Vice-Chancellor of the National University, paid tribute to the language martyrs at the Central Shaheed Minar.
In the early hours of 21 February 2026, the Vice-Chancellor led teachers, officials, students, and employees of the university in placing floral tributes at the Shaheed Minar.
Also present were Pro-Vice-Chancellors Professor Md Lutfar Rahman and Professor Dr Md Nurul Islam; Treasurer Professor Dr A T M Zafrul Azam; Acting Deans of various faculties; the Registrar (current charge); the Controller of Examinations; and heads of various offices, alongside teachers, officials, students, and employees.
The university also paid tribute by placing flowers at the Smritir Minar on its main campus in Gazipur. Similar programmes were observed with due solemnity at affiliated colleges and regional centres.
At dawn, the national flag and the university flag were kept at half-mast at the Gazipur campus, the university's city office in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, and regional centres, while black flags were hoisted. Teachers, officials, students, and employees of the National University wore black badges to mark the day.
