Shamima Parveen appointed as Dhaka's first female SP
The government today also transferred 11 other officials of the Bangladesh Police.
Shamima Parveen, currently serving at the Police Headquarters, has been appointed as the first female superintendent of police (SP) of Dhaka.
The order signed today (30 April) by Deputy Secretary Toufique Ahmed of the Police-1 Branch under the Ministry of Home Affairs, was issued on behalf of the president.
The notification states that the order was issued in the public interest and will take immediate effect.
Shamima Parveen is the wife of Khulna-3 MP and Whip Rakibul Islam Bakul.
Earlier, on 22 April, Farida Khanam, a deputy secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, was appointed as the first female deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka.
The government today also transferred 11 other officials of the Bangladesh Police, holding the ranks of additional deputy inspector general (DIG) and superintendent of police (SP), in a single reshuffle.
