Police detain 252 in anti-teen gang drive in Cumilla
Six drives over 15 days have resulted in 2,293 detentions across the district.
Police detained 252 people in an anti-teenage gang drive across Cumilla district from yesterday evening (8 October) until late at night.
Cumilla Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Lutfur Rahman confirmed the information today (9 October).
According to district police sources, teams from all 18 police stations and the district Detective Branch (DB) took part in the operation as part of ongoing efforts to curb teenage gang activities.
Multiple police units simultaneously raided identified locations in Cumilla city and other parts of the district where groups of teenagers and young people were reportedly involved in disruptive activities. Senior district police officials were also present to supervise the drives.
Lutfur Rahman said 252 people had been detained during the operation. "Their alleged involvement in various criminal activities would be examined before further legal action was taken in accordance with the law," he added.
As part of the ongoing crackdown on teenage gangs, law enforcement agencies in Cumilla have detained a total of 2,293 people in six rounds of drives over the past 15 days, according to district police.
