Govt orders 6-hour closure of CNG filling stations during Ramadan to ensure uninterrupted gas supply
According to the directive, all CNG stations will remain closed daily from 3pm to 9pm until 14 March
The government has directed the closure of CNG filling stations across Bangladesh for six hours daily during Ramadan to ensure adequate gas supply for power generation.
In an official letter issued today (20 February), the Energy and Mineral Resources Division said the decision had been taken to maintain sufficient gas pressure in the distribution network and guarantee uninterrupted fuel supply to power plants, especially during peak demand at iftar time.
According to the directive, all CNG stations will remain closed daily from 3pm to 9pm until 14 March, meaning they will stay shut for six hours each day.
The ministry also ordered that CNG stations nationwide remain open around the clock from 15-25 March, to facilitate the uninterrupted movement of holiday travellers on highways.
