Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his "warm congratulations" to Tarique in a Facebook post, stating that the electoral outcome demonstrated public trust in his leadership.
Modi affirmed India's continued support for a "democratic, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh" and expressed interest in working closely with the new leadership to strengthen bilateral cooperation and shared development goals.
He later spoke directly with Tarique Rahman and reiterated India's commitment to peace, progress, and prosperity for both nations.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also congratulated the people of Bangladesh and the BNP leadership in a post on X, extending advance Ramadan greetings and expressing hope that relations between Bangladesh and India would remain cordial.
