Brahmanbaria female UP member detained with yaba pills

The Department of Narcotics Control has detained a female union parishad member with 1,899 yaba pills at Ramrail area of Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila.

The detainee is Kakoli Akhter, 35, member of Singarbil union parishad of Bijaynagar upazila for the reserved seats in ward 4,5 and 6.

Department of Narcotics Control Inspector of Brahmanbaria circle Md Shariful Islam said Kakoli was detained on Wednesday evening.

He said Kakoli was coming to Brahmanbaria Sadar from Bijaynagar upazila by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and was detained with yaba pills on secret information on Cumilla-Sylhet highway.

"A case will be lodged under the Narcotics Control Act with Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station," he added.
