Relatives claim robbers attacked the corpse after failing to get enough cash and goods

Nine, including women, have been injured in a robbery on an ambulance carrying a corpse in Brahmanbaria's Nasirnagar.
The incident occurred around 1am today (23 May) in the Tilpara area of Nasirnagar's Burishwar Union.
Confirming receiving news of the robbery, Nasirnagar Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Md Khairul Alam said the exact list of robbed items remains unclear.
The deceased's son Alamgir claimed that the robbers attacked the corpse as they didn't get money and goods according to their demand.
The injured victims reported that an elderly man named Shobdar Ali from Mukbulpur village of Nasirnagar's Purbobhag union had died the previous night while undergoing cancer treatment at a Dhaka hospital.
Relatives were bringing his body back home in the ambulance when the attack took place.
Around 1am, the robbers blocked the road by placing trees on the street in Tilpara, stopping the ambulance. They then attacked the passengers, including women, with locally made weapons.
At one point, the robbers looted 10 mobile phones and over Tk50,000 from them. They also attacked the corpse with sharp weapons.
This scene of attacking the corpse in front of relatives has created intense anger and fear across the area. Locals said they had never seen such heinous and hateful acts before.
OC Khairul said efforts are underway to recover the looted belongings.
