Palli Sanchay Bank engages cooperative members in Rajshahi
Palli Sanchay Bank, a specialised financial institution dedicated to improving the socio-economic conditions of marginalised rural communities—particularly women—continues to serve as a catalyst for change across Bangladesh.
The bank currently supports nearly five million rural beneficiaries, the majority of whom are women.
Operating through a cooperative-based model in every union of the country, each cooperative consists of sixty members—sixty percent of them women. Through its microcredit programme, many members have become self-reliant entrepreneurs, with some expanding their ventures into export-oriented businesses.
A special Uthan Boithak (yard meeting) was held in Bakshimail Union of Mohanpur Upazila, Rajshahi, bringing together members of the Bakshimail Village Development Samity and Bakshimail West Village Development Samity.
Salma Banu, Managing Director of Palli Sanchay Bank, attended the event as chief guest, alongside A B M Zahid Hossain, General Manager of the bank; senior officials; and local dignitaries.
During the meeting, the Managing Director exchanged views with cooperative members, listened to their experiences and challenges, and announced new plans to enhance customer service and introduce additional facilities. She also distributed loans to the members, marking one of the most significant moments of the gathering.
Participants shared how Palli Sanchay Bank's initiatives have empowered them to achieve self-reliance and improve their living standards. They highlighted that the yard meetings foster cooperation, build financial awareness, and strengthen community ties.
The direct engagement of the bank's top leadership has reinforced trust and enthusiasm among members, creating renewed momentum in Palli Sanchay Bank's mission to build a sustainable and self-reliant rural economy.
