Nagad launches Quran recitation contest for uddoktas’ children
Nagad, a mobile financial services provider, has launched a Holy Quran recitation competition for the children of its more than three lakh uddoktas (agents) nationwide.
Titled "Shontan-er Konthe Quran Tilawat", the competition is being organised by Nagad Islamic and is now open for participation.
The initiative aims to promote the spirit of Ramadan among children and encourage the younger generation to embrace religious and moral values, the organisers said.
The competition has three age-based categories: Group A (3–6 years), Group B (6–11 years), and Group C (11–16 years). Under the rules, uddoktas have to record a 1–2 minute smartphone video of their child's Quran recitation and submit it through designated Google Form links with the required information.
Nagad said the process allows children of uddoktas from all 10 regions to participate from their respective locations. Since the competition opened on 5 February, more than 3,000 children have registered, it added.
The submitted videos will be evaluated under the supervision of the Nagad Islamic Shariah Supervisory Committee. In the first stage, 90 performers will be selected – three from each age group per region. The first-place winners from each group in every region, totalling 30 contestants, will advance to the grand finale at Nagad's head office in Dhaka. The 60 participants who secure second and third place will receive certificates.
In the final round, nine national winners – first, second and third in each category – will be selected. Nagad Islamic said it will award the winners cash prizes, crests and certificates. Finalists and one guardian each will be invited to attend the closing ceremony.
Proessorf Dr HM Shahidul Islam Barakati, chairman of the Nagad Islamic Shariah Supervisory Committee, said, "Following the previous success, we have launched this initiative again for our uddoktas' children. I believe this competition will help children learn to recite the Quran correctly and will also foster an interest in good deeds from a young age, inspiring them to grow as disciplined and moral individuals."
Nagad previously organised the same competition for uddoktas' children, which the company said received a positive response.
