a2i launches digital migration loan service on myGov platform
To make financing easier for Bangladeshi workers going abroad, a2i—the government's digital transformation arm—has launched the Migration Loan service on the myGov platform.
The service, a joint initiative of Probashi Kallyan Bank (PKB) and a2i, began on 28 September 2025. Applications, verifications, and approvals are now processed entirely online. So far, more than 100 outbound workers have received loans totalling around Tk3 crore.
Previously, applicants had to visit banks multiple times, often facing delays, high travel costs, and complex paperwork. The new digital process is faster, more transparent, and citizen-friendly. Applicants can log in to myGov, select Migration Loan, fill in their details, upload the required documents, and submit the application online.
Once submitted, the respective bank branch verifies and approves the application digitally. After completing the formalities, the approved loan amount is transferred directly to the applicant's bank account. With joint tracking via myGov and PKB, approvals are now completed in an average of 7 working days, reducing both travel costs and official hassle.
Applicants must attach a passport-sized photo, passport, visa, BMET card, and National ID, along with documents from a guarantor. The current maximum loan amount is Tk3 lakh.
Service recipients have praised the new process for its efficiency and transparency. Rakib Ahmed, one applicant, said, "To fulfil my dream of working abroad, I applied online through myGov. The step-by-step guidance made it easy to upload documents and complete verification. Within a few days, I received confirmation and my loan was approved—all without relying on brokers or standing in long queues."
Md Abdur Rofiq, Project Director (Joint Secretary) of a2i, said, "We plan to further automate the process by integrating national databases. In the next phase, the NID, passport, and BMET databases will be connected to the system."
The initiative involves PKB, the Financial Institutions Division, and the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment. The service is currently available at five PKB branches—Principal, Kakrail, Keraniganj, Manikganj, and Cumilla—with plans to expand to all 115 branches and other FID agencies in phases.
