Shammo's killing: JCD to protest at campuses across country tomorrow demanding resignation of DU VC, punishment to killers

The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal will hold protest programmes at all educational institutions across the country tomorrow (15 May) over a four-point demand, including ensuring exemplary punishment to the killers of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a leader of the organisation's Dhaka University unit.

In a press statement posted on Facebook, the BNP student wing said as part of the protest programme, its members will wear black badges and stage a sit-in at the VC Chattar in Dhaka University

Similar sit-in programme will also be held at all other educational institutions across the country, reads the press statement issued by JCD Office Secretary Jahangir Alam, on behalf of the organisation's President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.

The JCD's other demands are arresting Shammo's killers immediately, resignation of DU's vice chancellor and proctor and securing a safe environment at educational institutions.

Shahriar Alam Shammo, a student of DU's Institute of Education and Research and the literary and publications secretary of Sir AF Rahman Hall unit of Chhatra Dal, was fatally stabbed by miscreants late last night (13 May) near Suhrawardy Udyan.

As part of the ongoing investigation into Shammo's murder, three suspects have already been arrested and sent to jail.
