Students from five colleges withdrew their blockade programme at the Science Lab intersection this afternoon (19 December) after staging a protest demanding justice for the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
The protesters officially announced the withdrawal at 3:27pm. After the announcement, the students decided to move towards Shahbagh through the Shaheed Minar.
The colleges are Ideal College, Dhaka College, City College, Munshi Abdur Rouf College and Nur Mohammad College.
They had been staging the sit-in programme since 2:10pm, which caused severe traffic congestion in the Science Lab area.
Earlier, widespread protests erupted across Dhaka and multiple districts last night (18 December) after news of Osman Hadi's death, and the protests are still ongoing.
