Ducsu announces VC office siege tomorrow demanding renaming of 2 halls after Hadi, Felani
The union is also calling for administrative action against faculty members, officials, and employees who supported the massacre during last year's July Uprising.
The Dhaka University Central Students Union (Ducsu) has announced a siege of the vice-chancellor's office at 2:30pm tomorrow (21 December), over two demands, including the renaming of two dormitories.
According to a post on Ducsu's official Facebook page, the student body is demanding that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall be renamed "Shaheed Osman Hadi Hall" and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall be renamed "Felani Hall."
Ducsu is also calling for administrative action against faculty members, officials, and employees who supported the massacre during last year's July Uprising.
The announcement came in protest of the killing of Inqilab Mancha Spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, who was shot in broad daylight on 12 December. Hadi succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in Singapore on 18 December.
Felani, 15 years old, was shot dead by India's Border Security Force on 7 January 2011, along the Kurigram-Cooch Behar border. Her body, left hanging on the barbed-wire fence, sparked outrage at home and abroad.
