7 held over lynching of Hindu youth in Mymensingh

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained seven suspects in connection with the lynching of a Hindu youth in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh, the Chief Adviser's Press Wing said today (20 December).
The detainees are Md Limon Sarker, 19, Md Tarek Hossain, 19, Md Manik Mia, 20, Ershad Ali, 39, Nijum Uddin, 20, Alamgir Hossain, 38, and Md Miraj Hossain Akon, 46.
Members of RAB-14 detained the suspects during drives conducted in different areas in the district, reports UNB.
Earlier, on 18 December, the man was beaten to death by a mob over allegations of blasphemy in Mymensingh's Bhaluka Upazila, BBC Bangla reported, citing police.

The deceased young man was identified as Dipu Chandra Das. He worked at a local garment factory and had been living in the area as a tenant, police said.
According to Bhaluka Police Station Duty Officer Ripon Mia, an angry crowd caught him around 9pm Thursday over allegations that he made derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). "They beat him to death and later set fire to the body."
