Election environment not equal for all yet: Jamaat’s Mujibur
The Jamaat leader said the chief adviser has tried, but equality has not yet been ensured, adding that there is still time to create it.
Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Mujibur Rahman has alleged that the current election environment is still not equal for all and that political parties are not being treated the same.
A level playing field has not yet been created, he said while speaking to journalists after submitting his nomination form to Returning Officer Afia Akhtar at the Rajshahi deputy commissioner's office today (29 December) for the Rajshahi-1 in the upcoming polls.
The Jamaat leader said the chief adviser has tried, but equality has not yet been ensured, adding that there is still time to create it.
He said that in 54 years the people have not received the benefits of independence. He added that democracy has been disgraced, votes were held at night, and dummy elections took place.
Mujibur said his party placed a five-point reform demand. He said that until those demands are implemented, the true rules and principles of democracy will not be realised.
He also said miscreants are still giving statements and threatening voters in different places. He added that the looted weapons have not yet been recovered and must be retrieved, otherwise the election environment will not be equal.
As of 2pm, nine nomination forms had been submitted at the Rajshahi deputy commissioner's office. Earlier, 57 nomination forms were collected in six constituencies.
