No cultural events, DJ parties in Dhaka during 3-day state mourning for Khaleda
The government has announced that the three-day state mourning will be observed nationwide from Wednesday (31 December) through Friday (1–2 January).
No cultural programmes or DJ parties will be allowed in Dhaka during the three-day state mourning declared following the death of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
According to a public notice issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today (30 December), all cultural events, DJ parties, rallies, fireworks, crackers, sky lanterns, gas balloons and processions in open spaces across the capital have been suspended for the mourning period.
The government has announced that the three-day state mourning will be observed nationwide from Wednesday (31 December) through Friday (1–2 January).
The notice said the DMP is deeply saddened by the passing of Khaleda Zia and urged all to comply with the restrictions during the state mourning period.
Khaleda Zia passed away at around 6am today while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka at the age of 79. Following her death, leaders and heads of government from different countries around the world have expressed deep shock and condolences.
