Saudi prince died after taking drugs and drinking alcohol at Kensington hotel

A Saudi prince who was found dead in a London hotel last year died from cardiac arrest caused by a combination of drugs and alcohol, an inquest has concluded.

Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi al Saud, 29, was found dead in the bathroom of his room at the Marriott Hotel in Kensington on 25 November 2025 after checking in for a week-long stay on 19 November, says the Telegraph.

An inquest at the Inner West London Coroner's Court heard that toxicology tests found his blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal drink-drive limit. Tests also detected traces of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), cannabis and Xanax, the brand name for alprazolam, in his system.

The court concluded that the prince died from cardiac arrest caused by the combination of drugs and alcohol. The coroner returned a verdict of misadventure, finding no evidence of third-party involvement or intent to take his own life.

The inquest heard that the prince had struggled with alcohol and Xanax addiction and had recently completed treatment at the Priory Clinic in London and Rainford Hall in Merseyside. During his stays, he was reported to have engaged well with treatment and been kind to other patients, but he did not attend scheduled follow-up appointments after being discharged in October.

A hotel cleaner found the prince fully clothed on the floor of his locked fifth-floor room. CCTV footage reviewed during the investigation showed he had been alone on the night before his death.

The coroner said there was no evidence suggesting anyone else had been involved in the death and noted the absence of a suicide note, as well as positive reports from the prince's recent clinical treatment.

Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi al Saud was a descendant of the great-great-grandfather of Saudi Arabia's King Salman.
