Tarique, family to attend citizens' condolence meeting for Khaleda Zia today
A photo exhibition, featuring 100 photographs of different phases of Begum Zia's family and political life being held at Justice Shahabuddin Ahmad Park at Gulshan-2 area.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will attend a citizens' condolence meeting for former BNP chairperson and three-time prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia in Dhaka this afternoon (16 January).
The condolence meeting will be held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament building after Jummah prayers.
Tarique Rahman, along with all family members, will be present at the condolence meeting at 2:30pm, it was disclosed at a press conference held yesterday (15 January) at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) Convention Hall in Dhaka.
Speakers at the conference said all members of Khaleda Zia's family have been invited to the citizens' condolence meeting for Begum Khaleda Zia and they have agreed to remain present at the meeting.
Former chief justice Syed JR Modassir Hosain will attend as the chief guest. Eminent citizens, media professionals, and representatives from various classes and professions of the country will be present at the meeting.
Additionally, a photo exhibition, organised by the Bogura Media and Cultural Society-Dhaka, is scheduled to be inaugurated at 11am at Justice Shahabuddin Ahmad Park at Gulshan-2 area.
The exhibition will feature around 100 photographs depicting different phases of Begum Zia's family and political life. A special video documentary on her life will be screened at the park's open-air stage (mukta mancha).
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is expected to inaugurate the exhibition.
Also at 11am, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, accompanied by leaders, will pay respects at the tomb of late president Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.
