Measles death toll reaches 943 as 5 more children die in 24 hours
A total of 986 new suspected measles cases were reported during the 24-hour period, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 151638.
Five more children died from measles-like symptoms in 24 hours until 8am today (25 August), bringing Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 943.
With the latest update, the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 844, while the number of laboratory-confirmed measles deaths has reached 99.
A total of 986 new suspected measles cases were reported during the 24-hour period, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 151638.
Meanwhile, 91 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 18,578.
Since 15 March, a total of 132554 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, of whom 127811 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
