34 countries offer visa-free travel to specific Bangladeshi passport holders
The Maldives is the only country on the list that grants visa-free entry to holders of all categories of Bangladeshi passports.
Bangladesh has visa waiver agreements with 34 countries, allowing holders of certain categories of passports to travel without visas under specific conditions.
According to a list published by the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs today (24 August), the agreements are based on visa waiver arrangements in force with Bangladesh as of 1 July 2026.
The list shows that holders of diplomatic and official passports can travel without visas to 31 countries under bilateral agreements. In two other countries, the facility is available only to diplomatic passport holders, while one country offers visa-free entry to holders of all types of Bangladeshi passports.

The countries that have visa waiver agreements with Bangladesh for holders of diplomatic and official passports are Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, Chile, Laos, Belarus, Cambodia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Kuwait, Russia, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, India, China, Brunei, Oman, Indonesia, Brazil, Qatar, Botswana, Kosovo, South Korea, Serbia, Argentina, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, The Gambia, Pakistan and Mongolia.
In addition, Bangladesh has visa waiver agreements with Japan and Uzbekistan exclusively for diplomatic passport holders.
The Maldives is the only country on the list that grants visa-free entry to holders of all categories of Bangladeshi passports. However, the facility does not apply to those travelling for employment purposes.
Stay periods vary from 30 to 90 days
According to the list, the duration of visa-free stays varies by country.
Citizens of Bangladesh and South Korea can stay in each other's countries for up to 90 days without a visa, while the Maldives also allows stays of up to 90 days. The employment category is excluded from this facility.
Bangladesh and China have a reciprocal visa waiver agreement covering holders of diplomatic, official, and service passports, although no specific duration of stay has been mentioned in the agreement.
Singapore allows visa-free stays of up to 90 days, while similar 90-day facilities are available under agreements with Vietnam, Myanmar, Chile, Türkiye, Laos and Belarus.
For holders of Indian diplomatic and official passports, the visa-free stay period is 45 days.
Most agreements with Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Russia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Brunei, Oman, Serbia, Brazil, Qatar, Kosovo, Botswana, Argentina, Kazakhstan and Pakistan allow visa-free stays of up to 30 days.
Some agreements yet to take effect
The home ministry's list identifies several agreements as proposed visa waiver arrangements that have not yet entered into force.
Although Bangladesh and Timor-Leste signed a visa waiver agreement on 15 December 2024, it has not yet become effective.
Similarly, agreements signed with Mongolia on 11 December 2025 and Uzbekistan on 26 September 2025 are yet to take effect.
Bangladesh signed a visa waiver agreement with The Gambia on 13 March 2025. While the list mentions a 90-day visa-free stay under the arrangement, it is still classified as a proposed visa waiver agreement.
Meanwhile, the agreement signed with Pakistan in Dhaka on 24 August 2025 allows holders of diplomatic and official passports of both countries to stay visa-free for up to 30 days.
