Draft agreement ready for Chinese J-10CE fighter jet purchase: Adviser Zahed
Referring to recent combat incidents around the world, Zahed said there had been discussions about Bangladesh potentially purchasing J-10 fighter jets.
A committee has prepared a draft agreement for negotiations to purchase Chinese-made J-10CE multi-role fighter aircraft and attack helicopters, Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman said today (25 August).
He disclosed the information at a press conference in Dhaka on the progress of various government activities.
Referring to recent combat incidents around the world, Zahed said there had been discussions about Bangladesh potentially purchasing J-10 fighter jets.

"We have likely noticed discussions suggesting that Bangladesh may purchase J-10 fighters," he said.
"When there was a war between India and Pakistan, India's Rafale was shot down; and that was done by the Chinese J-10 – this information is now established," he added.
In October last year, the erstwhile interim government was preparing to purchase 20 Chinese-made J-10CE multirole fighter jets for an estimated $2.2 billion (around Tk27,060 crore) to modernise the Bangladesh Air Force and strengthen air defence.
The proposed deal, including training, maintenance and other associated costs, was expected to be implemented during FY2025-26 and FY2026-27, with payments spread over 10 fiscal years until FY2035-36.
