Dhaka Wasa employee killed in Mirpur road accident
Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saiful Islam said the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
A Dhaka Wasa employee was killed after being struck by a vehicle while on duty in the capital's Mirpur area this morning (25 August).
The deceased, identified as Shamim, 47.
He was on duty in the Senpara area near Mirpur-10 when the accident occurred around 6am, according to local residents and eyewitnesses.
The vehicle struck him as he carried out his duties, leaving him severely injured .
Police from Kafrul Police Station arrived at the scene about 30 minutes after the incident and carried out the initial legal procedures.
Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saiful Islam said the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
He added that efforts were underway to identify the vehicle and driver involved in the accident so that legal action could be taken.
Shamim, from Paikhonda Baradia village in Pabna's Bera upazila, had worked for Dhaka Wasa for nearly 25 years.
According to his colleagues, Shamim was responsible for duties in Senpara and nearby water pump installations.
His colleagues at Dhaka Wasa expressed shock and grief over his death.
