Seven more activists of AL, affiliate orgs arrested over anti-govt flash procession in Cumilla

Seven more leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations in Cumilla were arrested by the police for holding a flash procession against the government at midnight on Sunday (20 April).

Later, throughout the night and until Monday afternoon, the Kotwali Model Police Station conducted a drive in different areas of the city and arrested eight people.
Then, another seven people were arrested in a drive on Monday night and Tuesday. They were sent to jail by the court this afternoon (23 April), said Kotowali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohinul Islam.
He said the arrested persons are involved in politics at the ward level of the Metropolitan Awami League and its affiliated organisations.
The latest arrestees are Mahe Alam (40), general secretary of Swechasebak League's Cumilla city ward-6 unit, Rashedul Bari (45), Swechasebak League activist, Nayeem Hossain (19), Nasir Uddin, vice-president of the Jagannathpur Union Ward-6 Awami League, Md Jewel (38), member of Sramik League Federation and a member of the Durgapur Union Sramik League, Jahangir Hossain Babul (49), a former councilor of ward-16 under the city corporation and Awami League leader, and M Ahnaf (18), Chhatra League activist of the Ajitguh College branch unit
"They have been arrested in a case related to the attack on students at the police lines and in the Alekharchar area during the July uprising," the OC added.
The flash procession lasted two minutes. A video of the procession went viral on social media.
