Three suspected muggers were injured in a reported mob beating in Sholoshohor Bus Stand in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj district today (4 March).
The injured were identified as Jewel, 44, a microbus driver, Bachhu Mia, 45, and Hafiz Mia, 55.
Quoting locals, Shakil Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Srinagar Police Station, said local people tried to intercept a microbus heading towards Shologhor around 10am.
"As the microbus started moving, ignoring the signal, local people put up a barricade at Sholosohor bus stand and forced the microbus to stop. At one stage, local people caught the microbus driver and two passengers of it when they were trying to flee the spot hurriedly," the OC added.
He further said, "Later, local people beat them and handed them over to police."
Local people alleged that the same microbus was involved in snatching auto-rickshaws in the area.
However, police are investigating the incident, said the OC.
