Crude bomb explosion at Munshiganj polling station; 5 held
According to Munshiganj army and police sources, the operation was carried out from this morning until noon in the Makahati area.
Following a crude bomb explosion at Makahahti Gurucharan High School in Mollakandi Union of Munshiganj Sadar Upazila today (12 February), the army recovered a firearm and several fresh cocktails and arrested five people in connection with the incident.
According to Munshiganj army and police sources, the operation was carried out from this morning until noon in the Makahati area.
One of the arrested, Nahid, had been detained in Mollakandi last night. During a follow-up operation around his residence, authorities recovered a firearm and several cocktails.
Menhazul Alam, Munshiganj superintendent of police said, "I have heard about the incident, but I do not have the full details yet. The army has that information."
Sajeeb De, OC (Investigation) of Munshiganj Sadar Police Station said "Nahid has at least 15 cases registered under his name at Munshiganj Sadar Police Station. However, we have not been able to confirm whose side he was working for."
Earlier today, at around 10am, supporters of Jatiya Party candidate Md Kamruzzaman and independent candidate Md. Mohiuddin were involved in a chase-and-counter-chase incident. No casualties were reported, according to OC Mominul Islam.
