Jamaat spent Tk4.49cr in 13th parliamentary polls
Party submits report to Election Commission
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has submitted its expenditure statement to the Election Commission for the 13th parliamentary election, showing a total campaign expenditure of Tk4.49 crore.
The expenditure report was submitted today (12 May) to Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed by Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair.
As per the statement signed by Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, the party provided Tk4 crore in financial assistance to 225 candidates, with each candidate receiving roughly Tk1.5 lakh to Tk2 lakh on average.
The party said the expenditure covered manifesto design and printing, press conferences, hospitality, transportation of campaign materials, tours by central leaders, and advertisements.
According to the breakdown, Jamaat spent Tk20.9 lakh on election campaigning, including party conferences, manifesto printing and advertisements; Tk8,700 on transportation; Tk14.17 lakh on rallies and tours; Tk2.85 lakh on staff expenses; and Tk9.44 lakh on accommodation and administrative costs.
The statement also mentioned an additional Tk2 lakh under miscellaneous expenses.
Jamaat fielded candidates in 227 constituencies in the 13th parliamentary election held on 12 February.
Under the Representation of the People Order, a political party fielding more than 200 candidates is allowed to spend a maximum of Tk4.5 crore on election-related activities.
