ICT orders to complete probe against former IGP Al-Mamun, 7 others within 2 months
The three-member panel of the tribunal headed by its Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder passed the order asking the investigation agencies to submit the probe report on 20 February next year
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today (19 December) ordered investigating agencies to complete investigations against former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, and seven others within the next two months in a case filed over allegations of mass killing and crimes against humanity.
The three-member panel of the tribunal headed by its Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder passed the order asking the investigation agencies to submit the probe report on 20 February next year.
Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam along with lawyers BM Sultan Mahmud, Gazi MH Tamim and others took part in the hearing.
Earlier, Al-Mamun and the seven other accused were presented before the tribunal, who were shown arrested later.
On 27 October, the three-member tribunal accepted the prosecution's request and asked the accused to appear before it.
The other six accused are- former director general of National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) Major Gen (Retd) Ziaul Ahsan, former additional superintendent of Dhaka district Md Abdullahil Kafi, former deputy commissioner of Mirpur Md Jashim Uddin Molla, former additional superintendent of Dhaka district (Savar Circle) Md Shahidul Islam, former officer-in-charge of Gulshan police station Majharul Haque, former OC of Jatrabari police station Abul Hasan and former inspector of Detective Branch (Dhaka North) Md Arafat Hossain.
