Woman killed, 8 others critically injured in Ctg gas explosion
The injured have been shifted to National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
A woman was killed and eight others, including children, were injured after a gas explosion at their residence in the Halishahar area of Chattogram this morning (23 February).
The incident occurred at Halima Manzil, a six-storey building in H Block of Halishahar, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The deceased was identified as Nur Jahan, 35. The injured are: Shipon, 30; Suman, 40; Shawon, 17; Anas, 7; Aiman, 9; Shakhawat, 46; Ayesha, 4; and Pakhi, 35. Locals said they are members of the same family.
The injured were initially admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in critical condition. As their condition deteriorated, they were later taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
Nur Jahan was brought dead to the burn institute at around 6pm, said Resident Surgeon Dr Shawon Bin Rahman.
Earlier, Brig Gen Taslim Uddin, director of Chittagong Medical College Hospital, told The Business Standard that four of the injured suffered nearly 100% burns.

The others are also in serious condition, he said, adding that their relatives left for Dhaka with them around noon.
Alamgir Hossain, deputy assistant director of Chattogram fire service, told TBS, "Around 4:30am, gas accumulated in the kitchen on the third floor of the six-storey building and exploded. Several people inside the house, including women and children, sustained burn injuries."
"After receiving the information, firefighters rushed to the scene, extinguished the fire, and rescued the injured, taking them to Chittagong Medical College," he added.
