Over 100 children vaccinated under tarpaulin after Mirpur clinic demolished

A day after the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur-1 was demolished, more than 100 children were vaccinated today (26 September) by the roadside under tarpaulins at the health centre.
Children received vaccines between 10:30am and 2pm, said Nasrin Akhter, executive director of the Radda MCH-FP Centre.
She told The Business Standard, "More than 100 children have been vaccinated today."

"Hundreds of women, men and parents have been coming here with their children to receive vaccinations and other services," she added.
"Therefore, we have to continue our vaccination programme as part of our responsibility," Nasrin said.
Nasrin claimed that pregnant women were also coming, but all the equipment of the hospital has been taken away. "So, they had to go back without the expected facilities," she said.
"Most people in this area depend on this health centre. So, vaccination and family planning services will continue even amid this crisis," she said.
She added that the police had assured the centre of security and other necessary support, while local residents had also stood by them.
Nasrin also said, "We are sitting amid this rubble and providing vaccinations today. But this service was not built in a day. We have been working here for 50 years. This has only been possible because of the trust of local people and our sincerity towards them."
