2 killed as pickup rear-ends truck in Gazipur

At least two people were killed after a chicken-carrying pickup, moving at high speed, rammed into a truck from behind on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Gazipur this morning (28 March).
The incident took place in the Hotapara area of Gazipur Sadar Upazila at around 7:30am, according to witnesses and police.
The deceased were identified as Raju and Ziaru. Details about the deceased were unavailable immediately, but police are assuming one of them was the pickup driver's assistant and the other might have been a chicken trader.
The pickup driver, who was injured in the accident, has been admitted to a local hospital, said police.
Salna Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saleh Ahmed said the bodies of the deceased have been recovered. "Police are trying to identify them, while legal process is currently underway regarding the accident."
According to police, the pickup was returning to Mymensingh after supplying chickens in Dhaka.
The front side of the pickup, which was likely travelling at a high speed, was completely smashed after it hit a truck from behind, resulting in the death of two people on the spot, police said.
