JCI Awards 13 leading women in different sectors

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bangladesh has awarded the Woman of Inspiration Award 2021 to 13 leading women from different sectors.

This award is given every year mainly on the occasion of Women's Day.  

The awardees were selected from different sectors, including entrepreneurship, banking, business innovation, medical, defense, legal affairs, media, fashion, corporate leader, etc.

The award-giving ceremony took place in a five-star hotel in Dhaka. National Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury virtually joined the event as its chief guest.

Chaudhury said the government is working for the development of women.

"We are emphasising on women's freedom, especially economic empowerment. Besides, the government is strict in stopping violence against women," she added.

This year the awards recognised Masuma Rahman Nabila, Nahita Nishmin, Nasima Akter, Nisha Preema Nazia Andalib, Farhana Rafiq Uzzaman, Advocate Nahid Sultana (Juthi), Barrister Rashna Imam, Rukhmila Zaman, Dr Senjuti Saha, Sanjida Haq Arefin Luna, Shamima Nasrin, Tina F Jabeen Colonel, Dr Zebun Nahar for their brilliant display of finesse and irrefutable success in their respective fields.

Attending the event as a special guest, Joanne Wagner, deputy chief of mission, US embassy of Dhaka said Bangladesh has got a woman prime minister and speaker before the United States. Bangladesh is now an example of women's empowerment.

Niaz Morshed Elite, national president of JCI Bangladesh said the progress of women in various fields in Bangladesh is giving us hope. We are proud to acknowledge this progress.

, said in order to be economically self-sufficient, women have to do something. They should reduce money dependency on their husband.

Sagufta Yasmin Emily, MP and Barrister Shah Ali Farhad, special assistant to the prime minister were also present at the event along with leaders and members of various chapters of JCI Bangladesh.

JCI is a nonprofit global organisation of young active citizens from age 18 to 40 who are engaged and committed to creating impact in their communities. It currently has 18 local chapters with around one thousand members.
