Akber to be brought back even if he flees abroad: Momen
Momen branded SI Akbar as a shame for the police force, saying: “The lawmen are also ashamed because of such culprits. No one from the police is trying to save him. A proper investigation is under way.”
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen on Tuesday said steps would be taken to bring back the suspended police officer, SI Akber Hossain Bhuiyan, the main accused in Raihan murder case, even if he flees abroad.
Akber was the sub-inspector of Bandar Bazar police outpost before being fugitive.
The minister said: "I believe Akber has not left the country yet. We have immediately warned the border authorities about the matter. However, even if he flees abroad, steps will be taken to bring him back."

Drawing reference from an earlier incident, he said the accused in the Rajan murder case in Sylhet was brought back from Saudi Arabia.
The minister who is also a lawmaker from Sylhet-1 said this while visiting Raihan's house Tuesday afternoon.
He consoled the bereaved family members, and assured them of justice for Raihan's murder.

"The police did not make any attempt to save the members involved in the incident. Our police are very efficient. They have also been able to catch many hardened criminals. Everyone except one is under surveillance in this case."
"Everyone in the government wants a fair trial. So, there is no doubt that there will be a fair trial for Raihan murder. We have to set an example so that this kind of incident never occurs anywhere in the country."
On the night of October 10, Bandarbazar police arrested Raihan Ahmed, a resident of Akhalia area in the city. The arrestee was subjected to torture by police, who demanded money for his release.
In the morning, Raihan's family got a call from Raihan from an unknown mobile phone number. Raihan told his family that the police were demanding money for his release.
Raihan was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in the morning of October 11 in a critical condition. He died there.
Police claimed that Raihan was beaten to death by a mob on suspicion of kidnapping. However, the footage of the city corporation did not show any such incident.
Tahmina Akter Tani, wife of the deceased, filed a murder case with Sylhet Kotwali Police Station. The case was handed over to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
