Agri students lift Agargaon blockade after protest demanding 10th-grade positions for agriculture degree holders
They lifted the blockade around 6:30pm

Students of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University withdrew their blockade at Dhaka's Agargaon intersection this evening (31 August) after an hour long protest demanding the creation of 10th-grade positions for agriculture graduates in various agricultural and research institutions.
They lifted the blockade around 6:30pm.
The demands were put forward by the Krishibid Oikya Parishad, who along with the general student, also staged the blockade to protest what they called "illogical demands" by diploma holders.

Their three demands include introducing 10th-grade positions for candidates with degrees in agriculture at the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), and other research institutions.
They demand cancelling a promotion quota that allows non-degree holders to be promoted to the ninth grade without passing a recruitment exam.
Additionally, they demand issuing a government notification prohibiting individuals without a bachelor's degree in agriculture or a related field from using the title "Krishibid" (agriculturist).
The students, who began their demonstration at around 5:00 pm, titled their protest "Agri Blockade."

During the protest, they halted the ongoing traffic at approximately 5:25pm, disrupting commuters.
According to a protest coordinator, Imran Hossain Emon, the students will continue their blockade until their demands are met.
"We will stay on the streets until our demands are fulfilled," he told The Business Standard.
This is not the first time the students have resorted to a blockade.
On 28 August, they took to the streets under the banner of Krishibid Oikya Parishad, halting vehicular movement before police intervened to clear the road.
