Bangladesh consul general in Toronto meets Ontario chief of protocol
Shah Alam Khokan, Consul General of Bangladesh in Toronto, paid a courtesy call on Veronica Panton, Chief of Protocol, Ontario, at her office on Thursday, according to a press release.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest, including the welfare of the Bangladeshi community in Ontario, expanding trade and investment between Bangladesh and Canada, and potential visits by high-level officials.
The release states that Veronica Panton noted Toronto has the world's second-largest consular mission presence after New York. She also invited the Consul General to attend an event hosted by the Ontario authorities for Toronto's consular corps.
Shah Alam Khokan invited Panton to participate in events organised by the Consulate General of Bangladesh, including celebrations marking Bangladesh's Independence and National Day on 26 March 2026, and Pahela Baishakh on 14 April 2026.
The press release states the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere.
