Hadi murder: Interim govt to propose UN human rights probe into Hadi
Press Secretary to the chief adviser Shafiqul Alam said the government had already taken a decision to make such a proposal to the OHCHR.
The interim government has decided to propose that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) conduct an investigation into the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi at the earliest opportunity.
In a statement issued late last night (5 February), the Chief Adviser's Press Wing referred to a press briefing held earlier in the day.
The statement mentions that during the briefing, when asked whether the interim government would seek an international investigation into the assassination of Hadi, Press Secretary to the chief adviser Shafiqul Alam said the government had already taken a decision to make such a proposal to the OHCHR.
According to the statement, the interim government remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring full justice in the case and will extend all possible cooperation to any investigation undertaken by the UN human rights body.
The statement comes in the backdrop of a sit-in staged by Inqilab Mancha leaders near the chief adviser's residence.
Earlier on the day, the platform's leaders issued an ultimatum demanding an investigation under the United Nations into Hadi's murder.
