Justice Khizir Hayat removed from High Court over misconduct
Justice Hayat was among 12 High Court judges who were temporarily removed from judicial duties on 20 October 2024, following student protests demanding the resignation of "partisan, corrupt, and fascist-aligned judges"
Justice Khizir Hayat has been removed from the High Court Division of the Supreme Court due to allegations of serious misconduct.
The Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification in this regard yesterday (19 March), confirming that the president officially dismissed Justice Hayat on 18 March.
This decision was made under Article 96(6) of the Constitution.

Justice Hayat was among 12 High Court judges who were temporarily removed from judicial duties on 20 October 2024, following student protests demanding the resignation of "partisan, corrupt, and fascist-aligned judges".
Also, he was one of the justices of the High Court bench that gave the verdict restoring the 30% quota for children of freedom fighters in government jobs on 5 June.
Following this verdict university students across the country began protesting against the quota system for government jobs.
Khizir Hayat was also the president of the Dhaka University unit of Chhatra League.
Born on 24 January 1967, Justice Hayat completed his education at Dhaka University. He started his legal career on 6 August 1997 at the Dhaka District Judge Court and was later enrolled as a lawyer in the High Court Division on 9 February 2001.
He was appointed as an additional judge of the High Court on 31 May 2018 and was made permanent two years later.
