Rajshahi judge’s son died from excessive bleeding, autopsy confirms; no case filed yet
Ninth-grader Tawsif was killed at their rented home in the Dabtala area of Rajshahi city yesterday afternoon.
The autopsy of Tawsif Rahman Sumon, son of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Abdur Rahman, has been completed, with doctors confirming that he died from excessive bleeding.
Meanwhile, no case had been filed in connection with the killing at the time of the filing of this report at 2:50pm today (14 November).
The autopsy was conducted at around 9:45am at the morgue of Rajshahi Medical College by Associate Prof Dr Md Kafil Uddin, head of the forensic medicine department, and Lecturer Sharmin Sobhan Kaveri.
Judge Abdur Rahman waited outside the morgue during the examination.
After the autopsy, Tawsif's body was taken to their village home in Jamalpur for burial, scheduled for the evening.
Dr Kafil said Tawsif had sharp and pointed weapon injuries on his right thigh, right leg and left arm.
The cutting of major blood vessels in these three areas led to fatal blood loss, he added.
The police inquest report also noted bruising marks on his neck.
When asked about this, the doctor said the mark could have resulted from attempted suffocation using a soft cloth, but clarified that it was not the primary cause of death.
He said it appears that both stabbing and an attempt to suffocate were carried out at the same time.
Rajpara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Habibur Rahman said the process of filing a case is underway.
Attacker Limon Mia, also injured in a scuffle during the attack, is currently receiving treatment under police watch.
Yesterday afternoon, ninth-grader Tawsif was killed at their rented home in the Dabtala area of Rajshahi city.
His mother, Tasmin Nahar Lucy, was injured in the attack by Limon and admitted to a hospital.
Doctors said she is out of danger and that her condition is improving.
