Murder of Rajshahi judge’s son: Accused Limon placed on 5-day remand
Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Court-2 Judge Mamun Rashid passed the order today
A Rajshahi court has granted a five-day remand for Limon Mia, the lone accused in the murder of Tausif Rahman, son of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahman, and the attempted murder of the judge's wife.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Court-2 Judge Mamun Rashid passed the order today (15 November) following a remand plea filed by Rajpara Police Station Sub-Inspector Asadul Islam, the investigation officer in the case, said Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson Additional Deputy Commissioner Gaziur Rahman.
Earlier around 11:30am, Rajshahi Medical College Hospital released Limon, who had been under treatment. He was taken into police custody and produced before the court at 2pm.
Following the remand order, Limon was moved to Rajpara Police Station, where investigators will interrogate him in connection with the murder and attempted murder.
According to police, around 2:30pm on Thursday (13 November), Limon allegedly entered the judge's residence in Terkhadia Dabtola and fatally stabbed his 15-year-old son Tausif Rahman. The judge's wife, Tasmin Nahar Lucy, was also critically injured in the knife attack.
Limon himself was hurt in the ensuing scuffle. Both Tasmin and the accused were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Judge Abdur Rahman filed a murder case yesterday, naming Limon as the sole accused and alleging premeditated intent.
