Uttara University hosts 5th International Robo Tech Olympiad 2025

The 5th International Robo Tech Olympiad 2025 concluded on 21 June at Uttara University, drawing participation from tech-enthusiastic youth across Bangladesh and abroad.
Organised jointly by the university's School of Science and Engineering and Robo Tech Valley, the two-day event celebrated technological innovation, artificial intelligence, and youth creativity.
A total of 150 teams from 70 institutions, including universities, colleges, and schools, competed in 12 diverse categories, such as Robo Soccer, Line Following Robots, Robo Wars, Sumo Race, Drone Racing, Programming Contests, and Project Exhibitions. The competition awarded a total of Tk6 lakh in prize money, with 40 top performers receiving individual awards.
This year introduced new segments, including the Inter-University Programming Contest, Hackathon, Robot in Movies, Robotics Quiz, and a Creative Category, further enriching the competition.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Professor Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Vice Chancellor of Uttara University, said:
"Our goal is to engage youth with technology and innovation and present their talents to the global stage. Bangladesh is making remarkable strides in tech development."
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Gour Gobinda Goswami added, "This Olympiad is not just a competition—it's a platform to nurture critical thinking, hands-on learning, and future innovation leaders."
The Olympiad received strong institutional support from faculty and staff, including Professor Dr Mirza Golam Rabbani, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, and Md Wahidur Rahman, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. Key contributions were made by Dr Sultanul Islam, Dr Shah Ahmed, Dr Shakowat Zaman Sarker, Dr Mohammad Amanul Islam, and Md Ehsanul Haque, ensuring the smooth execution across all segments.
The event's Chief Guest, Abdul Hai Sarker, Chairman of Purbani Group and Board of Trustees at Independent University, Bangladesh, praised the initiative for empowering the next generation of tech innovators. Distinguished guests included the renowned computer scientist Mohammad Kaykobad, Dr Shahidul Islam, Vice Chancellor of Pirojpur University of Science and Technology, and IEEE representatives Dr Obaidur Rahman and Dr K M Azharul Hasan.
Robo Tech Valley was represented by ASM Ahsanul Sarker Akib, Managing Director, and Dr Ahsan Habib, Senior Consultant. Organisers expressed their ambition to expand the Olympiad's scale and position Bangladesh as a hub for technological innovation in South Asia.
