SecureNet BD eyes inclusive, community-led cyber defence network

The Team Phoenix Group has secured a grant from the APNIC Foundation's ISIF Asia programme to launch SecureNet BD, a pioneering initiative set to transform Bangladesh's cybersecurity landscape.
As Bangladesh accelerates its digital transformation, cyber threats are rising at an unprecedented rate — leaving many institutions, non-profit organisations, and communities, particularly those outside major cities, without affordable training or reliable security infrastructure.
SecureNet BD aims to address these challenges.
The initiative will establish Bangladesh's first Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CCoE) and a community-driven Security Operations Centre (SOC) / CSIRT, creating a national hub for cyber defence, training, and collaboration.
Through SecureNet BD, The Team Phoenix Group will:
- Train over 1,000 individuals nationwide, ensuring at least 30% female participation.
- Develop a state-of-the-art Cyber Range to support practical training, localised research, and real-world defence simulations.
- Introduce a Fellowship and Mentorship Programme to nurture the next generation of cybersecurity leaders.
- Deploy a Community SOC/CSIRT to assist academia, non-profits, and local organisations in defending against cyberattacks.
"This project is not only about technology — it is about empowering people. By combining world-class training with a community-driven defence model, SecureNet BD will make cybersecurity inclusive, sustainable, and distinctly Bangladeshi," said A S M Shamim Reza, Founder and Chief of Research at The Team Phoenix Group.
SecureNet BD aims to strengthen Bangladesh's cyber resilience and position the country as a regional leader in community-driven cybersecurity innovation across South Asia.
