KUET, LafargeHolcim sign MoU to foster research and innovation

The BECM Technical Club of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) successfully organised Innovecture 2025, powered by LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC, under the theme "Innovation and Sustainability for a Better Future."
The event aimed to bridge academia and industry, inspiring future engineers to embrace innovative and sustainable approaches within the construction and engineering sectors.
The day-long event featured three major segments — the Poster Presentation Competition, the Career Pathway Seminar and Industry Collaboration, and the One-View Challenge (OVC) Competition.
The programme began with the Poster Presentation, where participants showcased projects in Structural Engineering, Construction Management, and Architectural Engineering. Their ideas and research were evaluated by a panel of experts.
The Career Pathway Seminar included sessions on Corporate Grooming, Higher Studies Grooming, and Industry-Related Grooming, conducted by industry professionals and KUET alumni who shared insights from their respective fields.
A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Building Engineering and Construction Management (BECM), KUET, and LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC, marking the start of a collaborative partnership focused on research, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
The event was graced by Prof Dr Md Maksud Helali, Vice-Chancellor of KUET, as Chief Guest. Special guests included Prof Dr Muhammad Harunur Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering; Prof Dr B M Ikramul Haque, Director of Student's Welfare; and Prof Dr Abu Zakir Morshed, Head of the Department of BECM.
From LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC, Mahfuzul Hoque, Director of Commercial and Logistics, and Fakhruddin Mohammad Khan, Head of Innovation and Technical Services, attended as special guests. The event was convened by Dr Md Habibur Rahman Sobuz, Moderator of BECM Technical Club and faculty member of the Department of BECM.
The programme concluded with the announcement of the Top 5 OVC teams and a Prize-Giving Ceremony, celebrating creativity, innovation, and academic excellence.
Through Innovecture 2025, KUET reaffirmed its commitment to empowering students through academic–industry collaboration and promoting a culture of innovation for a smarter, more sustainable future.
