BRAC Bank joins Bangladesh Bank CMSME policy workshop as lead bank
Bangladesh Bank has organised a capacity-building workshop on its CMSME Financing Policy in Nilphamari to strengthen the implementation of structured, inclusive, and sustainable financing across the banking sector.
The workshop, held at a community centre in Nilphamari Sadar on 16 February 2026, brought together representatives from 33 banks operating in the district. BRAC Bank participated as the lead bank, according to organisers.
Md Ali Mahmud, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank's Rangpur office, attended the programme as the chief guest, while Md Emdadul Hoque, Director of the Rangpur office, joined as a special guest. Ariful Islam, Head of Cottage, Micro and Small Business at BRAC Bank, presided over the session.
The session focused on the implementation of the CMSME Financing Policy, including regulatory compliance, structured financing models, risk management standards, and the role of financial institutions in supporting sustainable entrepreneurship. Participants also participated in interactive knowledge-sharing discussions to strengthen institutional capacity and improve financing support for emerging entrepreneurs.
Bangladesh Bank officials highlighted the role of the CMSME sector in economic growth, employment generation, and regional development, stressing the need for coordinated efforts and adherence to policy across financial institutions.
