Fire at Karwan Bazar wood shop brought under control after 2 hours
Ten firefighting units from different stations worked to bring the blaze under control.
A fire broke out at a wood shop in the capital's Karwan Bazar area, opposite to the TCB Bhaban, around 10:30pm today (16 February).
The blaze was brought under control at 12:38am, said Fire Service Media Cell Warehouse Inspector Anwarul Islam.
Five firefighting units from different stations reached the scene at 10:46pm and began efforts to bring the blaze under control. Later, three more units joined them, and two more afterwards.
The fire has reportedly spread to several establishment including wood shops and the adjacent fish market.
The cause of the fire could not be determined immediately, and there were no reports of casualties as of filing this report.
Meanwhile, a fire broke out at a shoe factory in Old Dhaka and was brought under control within one hour.
The fire broke out at the factory situated on Agamsi Lane off Aga Sadek Road at around 10:45pm, according to Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Fire Service media officer Talha Bin Jasim said the flames were fully brought under control by 11:35pm.
