NRB Commercial (NRBC) Bank's made an operating profit of Tk324 crore last year amid the Covid-19 pandemic, according to reports presented in its recently held Annual Business Conference 2021.

The conference was held in Cox's Bazar from 21 to 23 January, with the motto of "building market share through innovation and experience," reads a press release on Saturday.

According to reports presented in the conference, the bank made an operating profit of Tk324 crore last year. The chairman and managing director of the bank encouraged its officials and branch managers to be committed to achieve the current year's targets.

The reports also said that NRBC Bank registered deposits of Tk9,480 crore in 2020, while its total loans and advances amounted to Tk7,462 crore.

SM Parvez Tamal, the bank's chairman attended the event as the chief guest.

Md Mukhter Hossain, managing director and CEO of the bank presided over the conference while division and branch heads attended the event in-person. The remaining participants attended virtually.  

Addressing the conference, Tamal said, "We have already been termed as the 'Humanitarian Bank'' for providing medical services and protection equipment to the public, which has automatically made us economically profitable.

"Becoming the bank for the public at large is our ultimate goal. We have mainly prioritized retail, Cottage, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (CMSME), and micro-credit," he added.

"Our IPO subscription will start from 3 February," he further added.  

NRBC Bank was founded on 20 February 2013 and started operations on 2 April of the same year. The bank currently has 83 branches and 400 sub-branches, including Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), sub-registration service points nationwide.
