GD Assist evacuates 48 Bangladeshis from Thailand
GD Assist, being the largest healthcare management company in Bangladesh started to work towards bringing back the stranded people considering the humanitarian ground
GD Assist, a subsidiary of Green Delta Insurance Company, arranged the evacuation of 48 nonresident Bangladeshis stranded in Bangkok of Thailand and brought them back home on Friday.
A chartered flight of US-Bangla Airlines left Bangkok International Airport at 4:20pm and landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka in the evening, said an employee of GD Assist.
In the last week of March, one of the stranded Bangladeshi families contacted GD Assist Ltd from Bangkok with a request to help them repatriate the mortal remains of their beloved father who unfortunately died during his treatment in Bangkok.

Considering the humanitarian ground, GD Assist, being the largest healthcare management company in Bangladesh, started coordinating with the High Commission of Bangladesh in Thailand and other relevant authorities to bring back the family along with the dead body.
Few other Bangladeshi families who were also stranded in Bangkok reached out to GD Assist and expressed their willingness to get assistance for evacuation from Bangkok.
GD Assist Managing Director Syed Moinuddin Ahmed mentioned that the firm is proud to have been able to make some little contribution to the country's people during this corona-riddled grave period.
"After getting approval from authorities concerned to bring the stranded Bangladeshis back home, GD Assist further arranged for all the 48 passengers to have COVID-19 screening tests in a renowned hospital in Bangkok," he added.
However, Kamrul Islam, General Manager (Public Relations) of US-Bangla Airlines, said they will operate six special flights on Chennai-Dhaka route from April 20-25 and two more special flights will bring back Bangladeshis from Kolkata on April 21 and April 23.
