Green Delta Insurance completes Bangladesh’s first dairy heat index insurance claim

Green Delta Insurance PLC has successfully completed Bangladesh's first-ever Dairy Heat Index Insurance claim settlement at Mymensingh, marking a historic milestone in climate-smart agricultural insurance. The insurance protects dairy farmers from income loss caused by extreme temperatures, which can adversely affect cattle health and milk production. Payouts are triggered when temperature and humidity surpass a predefined threshold. The claim settlement was conducted in collaboration with IBISA Network, Swiss Capacity Building Facility (SCBF), and the Association for Peoples Development Stream (APDS).
During the event, 500 farmers from Chilmari, Shyamnagar, and Haluaghat upazilas of Mymensingh district received timely support, helping them recover from losses in milk production and sustain their farms. The milestone event was attended by Md. Monerul Islam Khan, Chief Executive Officer of APDS, and Mr. Anupam Das, Head of Impact Business at Green Delta Insurance PLC, along with personnel from partner organisations. Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration in building a more secure and climate-resilient future for farmers.
"As pioneers of this innovative insurance product, we are proud to stand beside Bangladesh's farmers in their fight against climate shocks. The claim settlement reaffirms our unwavering commitment to supporting them," said Anupam Das, Head of Impact Business at Green Delta Insurance.
Green Delta Insurance PLC and its partners reaffirm their mission to expand inclusive, climate-smart insurance solutions, presenting this landmark achievement as a model for sustainable development globally.
