Lahore by IKitchen brings refined Pakistani dining to Gulshan
Lahore by IKitchen in Gulshan proves that authentic Pakistani food does not need reinvention, only careful execution and respect for flavour
In a city where restaurant openings often rely more on spectacle than substance, finding a place that actually focuses on flavour can feel refreshing. In Gulshan, Lahore by IKitchen delivers authentic Pakistani cuisine served in a refined, comfortable setting.
The restaurant introduces itself as a Pakistani dining destination, "here timeless elegance meets bold, intricate flavours in every detail".
The first thing that stands out upon entering is the ambience. Warm golden lighting falls softly across green-toned interiors, creating a space that feels polished without becoming intimidating. The seating arrangement is spacious and comfortable, suited equally for family dinners, business meetings or birthday celebrations.
There is also a poolside seating area that adds another dimension to the restaurant, especially during the evening when the lights reflect gently across the water.
The staff remain attentive without becoming intrusive. Service is prompt, dishes arrive on time, and the team appears well-informed about the menu.
But ambience alone cannot carry a restaurant review; the food does most of the heavy lifting.
La Jawab Beef Nihari
We began with the La Jawab Beef Nihari, and it immediately set the tone for the evening. The nihari arrived thick and deeply aromatic, its texture noticeable from the first spoonful.
Unlike many versions that rely heavily on oil and aggressive spice, this one felt more controlled. The beef was exceptionally tender, boneless and slow-cooked to the point where it almost melted into the gravy.
What made the dish particularly memorable was its balance. It was rich without becoming overwhelming and mildly spiced enough for the flavours of the meat to remain central. Paired with the restaurant's signature Rumali Roti and naan, the nihari became both comforting and indulgent at the same time.

Beef Chapli Kebab with Bone Marrow
Then came the standout dish of the evening, the Beef Chapli Kebab with Bone Marrow.
If there is a signature item that demands repeat visits, this is probably it.
The chapli kebab was soft, smoky and very flavourful, carrying the kind of richness that feels actually Pakistani. The texture alone deserves praise. It was tender without falling apart and carried a satisfying heaviness that made every bite feel better.
But the real highlight was the serving process. The server prepares the final assembly while serving, placing the bone marrow directly over the kebab before presenting it to diners. The marrow slowly melts into the meat, adding another layer of richness without making the dish greasy.
It is the kind of plate that briefly silences conversation at the table.
Paired again with the Rumali Roti, the kebab became the defining moment of the meal. If a first-time visitor only plans to order one item from the menu, this should probably be it.

Kashmiri Butter Chicken
The Kashmiri Butter Chicken gave a completely different experience. This dish leaned into softer, more homely flavours. The gravy was thick and buttery, with the butter itself dominating the profile from the beginning. The chicken was boneless and easy to eat, making the dish approachable even for diners less comfortable with heavily spiced food.
What stood out most, however, was that the dish did not have excessive oil. Butter chicken often arrives floating in grease, but this version remained surprisingly clean and balanced. The overall flavour felt comforting rather than dramatic.
Again, the naan and Rumali Roti complemented the dish well.

Namkeen Lacchi
After several rich dishes, the Namkeen Lacchi felt necessary rather than optional. The salted yoghurt drink arrived plain, light and refreshingly simple. Its savoury profile worked particularly well after the heavier kebab and marrow combination, helping reset the palate between courses.
There was nothing flashy about it, and that is exactly why it worked. Sometimes the best additions to a meal are the ones that quietly restore balance.

Shahi Falooda
To finish, we had the Shahi Falooda. Thick, sweet and indulgent, the dessert was very rich and associated with classic Pakistani desserts. The vanilla ice cream blended smoothly into the falooda, softening the sweetness while adding creaminess to the texture.
The dessert managed to feel heavy without becoming exhausting, which is not always easy with falooda.

Throughout the evening, Lahore by IKitchen consistently demonstrated an understanding of restraint, a quality often overlooked in dining spaces where excess is frequently mistaken for authenticity.
The dishes here are rich, certainly, but they rarely cross into discomfort. Spice levels remain thoughtful, textures are carefully managed, and presentation feels refined without becoming artificial.
In a city increasingly crowded with restaurants competing for attention through exaggerated concepts and viral presentation, Lahore by IKitchen succeeds by staying grounded in flavour, hospitality and atmosphere. It does not try to reinvent Pakistani cuisine. Instead, it respects it.
And perhaps that is precisely what makes the experience memorable.
