Two killed in bus accident in Ctg, driver detained

Two garment workers were killed after being run over by a bus in the Baluchara area of Chattogram this morning (23 August).
The accident occurred at around 8:30am, in front of Visual Garments, within the jurisdiction of Bayezid Bostami police station. Police later detained the bus driver in connection with the incident.
The deceased were identified as Arun Das, 60, a resident of Betagi in Rangunia upazila and Azizul Haque, 23, from South Muradpur in Mirsharai upazila.

Arun worked at Visual garments in Baluchhara, while Azizul was employed at a nearby factory.
According to police, Arun and Azizul were walking to their respective workplaces this morning, when a bus travelling in the opposite direction reportedly lost control and ran them over, leaving both of them critically injured.
Locals rescued the two and rushed them to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
Md Abdul Karim, Officer-in-Charge of Bayezid Bostami Police Station confirmed the incident to The Business Standard, saying the bus driver was detained following the accident.
"Legal proceedings are underway in connection with the incident," he added.
